How We Understand Christ

How do we understand Christianity at Valmont? First let us be clear that although we may all share core beliefs, there is no one complete and final understanding of what it means to be a Christian. We believe each person is called to develop their relationship with God through prayer and study and guided by the Spirit, Scripture and the Creation.

We come from many backgrounds and have diverse experiences. We are farmers and ranchers, home makers, educators, scientists, sales people and professionals. We are men and women, boys and girls; we are old and young, single and married. Our ethnicity probably matches our community but we want to be diversified. We welcome people from other cultures and experience. We recognize that we all fall short of the glory of God. We recognize our sinfulness even as we pray to become like Christ.

We are Presbyterian, "people of the middle way" as Harry Hassall* put it. We're between the Orthodox churches on the one side and the Congregation churches on the other. IPSOM LORUM, YATI YATY.
