Hurricane Recovery Work Trips

Stairs built by PDA team
Cheryl and Mike revisit a home they worked on. Their PDA team installed these stairs on in 2007. The stairs were subsequently blown down by Hurricane Ike in 2008 and have been reattached.

Mold damage
Mold damage caused by Hurricane Ike in 2008. Mold can take hold in just days in Louisiana's warm, humid climate.

Presbytery of Plains and Peaks is again sponsoring two work trips to the Gulf Coast area.  The Rev will be leading a team back to Houma, Louisiana, March 20 – 27.  Dennis & Nancy Hurianek will lead a team to Texas City (Galveston), Texas April 10 – 17.

Both team will be staying at Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Volunteer Villages.  Minimum age is 16; medical insurance and Tetanus vaccination required; volunteers are responsible for travel to and from the site.  Grants are available – don’t let money stop you from going on one of these trips.

Tile floor installed
In 2009 our PDA team installed a tile floor, a laminate floor, a new back door, refinished the front door and plumbed the bathroom of a home that was damaged during Hurricane Ike. Because of roof damage, mold had completely taken over the home in the week the family was evacuated.
